Trends in Wedding flowers

Use a single colour in multiple shades and textures.....

for example you could pair multiple shades of blooms in soft warm pink in your bouquet to team with beige, ivory or taupe.

Use Contrasting Colours.....

if you have chosen a dominant colour in your theme, talk to your florist about what contrasting colour might be incorporated in your bridesmaids bouquets for a really striking ensemble effect.

Think about Australian natives.....

there are so many stunning Australian native flowers to use in bouquets these days, such as Flannel Flower, Waratah, Blushing Bride and Wax flower. These can really make your wedding flowers unique. Many Australian native flowers have a scent of the Australian bush, particularly if you choose to incorporate the soft greys of the eucalyptus. Grasses, Seed Pods and Nuts can also add texture and dimension to give a warm summery feeling and look. Check out what natives are in season and when "Australian Natives"

Think of interesting embellishments.....

you don't have to just use flower blooms, you might want to feature succulents or herbs like Rosemary or Lavender, or you might think of feathers, vine and tropical foliages. Bounce these ideas off your florist who will be able to help bring your ideas to life. Also consider what binding you want for you bouquets. Consider the fabric and colour you want. This can reflect you and your bridemaids dresses, eg satin ribbons in your theme colour embellished with pearls, diamantes or matching lace.

Table Centres.....

your table centres should reflect the overall theme and feel of your wedding, and that doesn't mean all the centre pieces being identical. You might consider using different containers of varying heights. Also consider the reception room, tall vases on round tables in a ballroom setting with high ceilings help fill the space and can look a knock out, but if the reception is being held in a more intimate space then something low and petite might be in order, but remember don't block conversation across the table when people are seated, either go tall or low as you want your guests to enjoy the good company.

Don't forget your Bridesmaids.....

make sure what you choose for your bridesmaids is flattering, whilst obviously not upstaging you, consider dressing your bridesmaids in your accent colour, maybe in different dress styles that suit your individual bridesmaids, maybe the colours should be subtly different for each. Ensure that each of your bridesmaids look and feel good, it will make your day even that little bit more special. Don't discount Black, everything goes with black, in the right style it can be flattering, simple and an easy choice.

What is the Season.....

let the natural colours of the season be your inspiration. Make sure that your wedding colours you choose compliment the blooms and foliages that are naturally available, at that time of year, for example don't set your heart on daffodils in the height of an Australian summer. Check out what flowers are in season and when "The Seasons"

Consider all aspects of your wedding when deciding on the colours, theme and overall look.....

consider your wedding party, the church, the reception what sort of look and feel do you want. Do some research on what's popular this year, look at magazines and the web and present copies to your florist, don't get stuck on a particular colour scheme. Be prepared to be bold and consider new ideas, remember you want people to "gasp" in awe and remember your wedding day for years to come.
